Whispers While Walking
The deep black water of the lake,
Laps against the shore,
A silent prayer;
The wings of an eagle brush against
Still, windless clouds;
Silent Prayer;
A fish leaps out of his wet house;
Silent Prayer;
A great grizzley stands like a man,
And licks the air,
He knows the Great Spirit is there.
Silent prayer;
I am a man born to exist between,
layers of mornings and nights,
Winters…summers,
Births and deaths.
While I walk I whisper your Name.
Great Spirit.
Silent Prayer.
